Morawiecki Criticizes Government for Unfulfilled Promises:

People, See How They Fooled You.

Michał Olech

- A year has indeed passed, and it has been a very bad year for the Polish economy, Polish society, the budget, and Polish investments. I would like to discuss several of the most important issues, one by one. It is clearly visible, as if through a lens or a mirror, what the government's priorities are, or rather, what priorities are lacking. It is evident how they fail to manage public finances. It is also clear what vision Poland has, or rather, what vision it lacks. There is simply no strategy that would lead our economy towards rapid economic development, the kind that meets the aspirations of Polish society – stated Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

- But let's ask what Poles have in this budget presented for the next year. Well, there are no fulfilled promises there, there is no tax-free amount of PLN 60,000, there are no student housing units for a zloty, there is no zero VAT on public transport. Perhaps let's ask if Lewica was able to push through its program of 300,000 municipal apartments. Well, that program is also absent – he continued.

- People, see how they fooled you. See that none of these promises are in the budget with the largest historical budget deficit; they are simply not there. Instead, there is accelerated state indebtedness. In just 2 years, the debt will increase by 10 percentage points. Over half a trillion zlotys – that is a monstrous budget deficit – added the former prime minister.
