– Thank you to the free media for coming. (...) The fact that public television is not with us today, for the first time in my presidency, is a peculiar sign of sad times. Representatives of the current government are also those who demanded the reinstatement of pensions for former secret police officers, stakeholders in the communist system of repression – said President Andrzej Duda.

- This is the 43rd anniversary of national betrayal. (...) It was the suppression of a social explosion of the desire for freedom – said the president. - We meet here today to commemorate the victims of martial law. We remember the miners from the Wujek mine and all others who also gave their lives in subsequent years – he continued. A moment later, the President of the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) and presidential candidate Karol Nawrocki took the floor. He stated that "we will not allow the responsibility for national truth to be extinguished". Concluding his speech on Piłsudski Square, Nawrocki shouted: "Long live Poland, down with communism!".
