- The Minister of Finance has proposed a budget amendment for this year, for 2024, the deficit will be larger. I would like to state immediately that we are, of course, in a rather paradoxical situation. This deficit is larger, and it must be honestly recorded in the budget law, because in a sense, we have achieved more than was assumed when our predecessors drew up this budget - Prime Minister Donald Tusk said at a press conference. - State budget revenues are clearly lower because inflation is lower than assumed in the budget. It's three-point-something, it was supposed to be 6. [...] The fact that year-on-year inflation is clearly lower, half as low as the creators of this budget assumed, also means lower tax revenue - he continued. - Predecessors also included for this year, 2024 [...] that the National Bank of Poland would pay 6 billion in profit to the state budget, and the National Bank of Poland informed us long ago that it is at a loss - he went on to say.
