Pomaska on Romanowski's Departure from Strasbourg:

He was afraid he would completely discredit himself.

- This is a completely strange situation, because Mr. Romanowski was very much counting on the immunity of the Council of Europe to protect him from responsibility. He was, as we know, in Strasbourg since Friday, and on Sunday he was still seen by some MPs [...] from abroad, when he was picking up his colleagues from the train station - said Agnieszka Pomaska in an interview with Renata Grochal on the program "Bez Uników" (Without Evasions) on Trójka, when asked about Marcin Romanowski's absence from the committee meeting considering the matter of his immunity. - On Monday, he disappeared. He disappeared as soon as he learned that his case would indeed be considered at this session of the assembly. I think this was also an important argument for those MPs who do not fully know the case, who always have doubts about lifting immunity - she continued. "Confirmation that it was about a perfidious misuse of the Council of Europe" - I think especially Mr. Romanowski's words yesterday were a confirmation that this was solely about a perfidious misuse of the Council of Europe to protect himself from responsibility - she went on to say. - Mr. Romanowski could have appeared before that committee and done so in person, but he sent a letter, not being here anymore. [...] He also did not inform the secretariat of our delegation. He has a hotel booked until Friday; the delegation was from Sunday to Friday [...] he probably didn't want to explain himself, or was simply afraid to explain himself [...] evidently, he decided [...] that the accusations against him could result in him not only not having the Council of Europe immunity, but completely discrediting himself here - she added.
