- We have also shifted some funds [within the Ministry of National Defence budget] to enable, among other things, Operation Phoenix. We are budgeting 175 million for personnel costs and for equipment that is in use - said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News. - This is money that is in part 29 of the state budget. We always make some reserves for extraordinary situations, and it is precisely this reserve that we are activating - he stated. When asked about the idea of limiting army expenditures and transferring those funds to flood reconstruction, he declared: - We will not reduce defence spending. We cannot allow it [...]. It would be an action that would disrupt the transformation process [...], we simply have many things already contracted that we must pay for next year. Reducing spending means not paying. Not paying means not receiving. - I don't want it to end up like with the multi-role helicopters, of which we should have had 50 if our predecessors hadn't broken the contract for the Caracale. They would have been very useful precisely in flood operations - he stated.
