Konwiński:
We've Filed a Preliminary Motion to Bring Glapiński Before the State Tribunal, Charging Him with 8 Offenses
- Literally just moments ago, a motion was filed with the Marshal of the Sejm to bring the President of the National Bank of Poland, Mr. Glapiński, before the State Tribunal. We have submitted the motion with the signatures of 191 parliamentarians, so the required number of signatures has been met. We are bringing 8 charges against President Glapiński; all these charges are precisely described in the motion, discussed in great detail, with examples of violations of the constitution or specific laws provided – stated Zbigniew Konwiński at a press conference in the Sejm.
- In December 2020 and March 2022, he undertook currency interventions without proper authorization from the Management Board of the NBP, and moreover, at least some of them were aimed at weakening the value of the Polish currency, which constituted a violation of Article 17(1) and Article 17(3) point 2 of the Act on the NBP in connection with Article 7 of the Constitution, and a violation of Article 227(1) sentence 3 of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland and Article 3(1) of the Act on the NBP. In the years 2021-2023, he initiated, accepted, and carried out actions contrary to the established assumptions of monetary policy referred to in Article 227(6) of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland – he continued.
- Another charge: he obstructed some members of the Monetary Policy Council and some members of the NBP Management Board from performing their constitutional and statutory duties by refusing them access to documents produced at the NBP – he added.
