Control Revealed 27 Serious Lapses in Grenade Launcher Incident; Prosecutor's Office Notifications to Be Filed
- The audit conducted by a team from the Ministry of Interior and Administration has revealed 27 very serious lapses concerning the entire incident with this grenade launcher and its explosion. These 27 lapses demonstrate the scale of the degradation and downfall of police management under Commander Szymczyk, as well as under PiS politicians. [...] Following discussions with the directors responsible for the audit, I have decided that notifications will be filed with the prosecutor's office in this matter - stated Marcin Kierwiński at a press conference.
- The first notification will concern the former Police Commander-in-Chief, General Szymczyk, and will relate to Article 263, paragraph 2 of the Penal Code, regarding the possession of a weapon, a grenade launcher, contrary to applicable regulations. The second notification in this regard will concern a violation of Article 231, paragraph 1 of the Penal Code, meaning the failure to perform duties and acting to the detriment of public or private interest by not issuing orders for a pyrotechnic check of the received gift, the grenade launcher, despite having the capabilities, forces, and means to do so - he continued.
- During his visit to Ukraine, General Szymczyk had full capabilities, I emphasize, full capabilities, to check, and order the checking of this grenade launcher. He did not do so. This in itself is shocking, as it concerns a high-ranking state official, but it is an evident failure to perform official duties - he further elaborated.
- In this matter, we will also file a notification regarding a misdemeanor, namely the transport of this grenade launcher, crossing the border in this regard. We will also file a notification [...] concerning the potential commission of a crime, also under Article 231 of the Penal Code, consisting of the failure to perform duties and acting to the detriment of public or private interest in connection with the occurrence of a threat to people's health and lives. At the moment when this grenade launcher was detonated, no evacuation was ordered. This means that no procedures were activated - he added.
