Duda:
Finland Can Count on Our Political Support and Experience Sharing
- President Sauli Niinistö, after many years and two terms, is slowly approaching the end of his presidential mission. This is also a very important moment for me to be able to speak with the President once again, undoubtedly one of the most experienced politicians in Europe, certainly one of the most experienced presidents. Especially in such a complicated international situation as we are currently facing, and this is what we primarily discussed today. In addition to purely bilateral issues concerning Polish-Finnish cooperation, which has been developing very well in recent years, with growing economic exchange, over 5 billion euros, this cooperation is developing for us, despite all the perturbations - stated President Andrzej Duda at a press conference with the President of Finland.
- We mainly discussed security issues today, and let's not kid ourselves, security issues. We talked about the migratory pressure from Russia on the Finnish border. We have no doubt that today on the border with Russia, Finland is facing a similar phenomenon to what we have been dealing with here since 2021, a hybrid attack on the Finnish border, which is carried out by pushing groups of migrants towards this border. This is a very difficult situation, which we Poles understand perfectly. We support Finland with full awareness that Finland is defending not only its border. This is not just Finland's border, it is also the European Union's border - he added.
- We understand that the authorities are treating this with seriousness and responsibility. Finland can absolutely count on our political support and on sharing our experience, because unfortunately, we have over 2 years of experience in defending our border against migratory pressure - he continued.
