Schetyna:
First Step is Internal Integration within Civic Platform. End of Discussion. Elections for Club Authorities and Moving to the Next Stage of Building an Opposition Camp to Win in 2023
- We need to seriously consider this [rebranding of Civic Platform] and only at the end, as the final stage of discussing what the opposition, and the Platform, needs today. I believe we need to primarily establish relationships within the Civic Platform, the Civic Coalition. Build them on the principle of subjectivity, of full involvement and participation. This is very important. This is a very concrete example of how politics should be built in the long term. And this is not a matter of keys or the questioning editor's spells, because it's not jargon, but a true diagnosis of the situation, because the Polish opposition needs it today. There must be good relations between opposition groupings, but also within the Civic Coalition, which is a formula not only purely of the Platform, but also expanded to include people from other parties, and independents. We must learn cooperation on the opposition side in order to be ready, ready to build one… A federation of groupings that today form the Civic Coalition – yes, close relations, building agreement, as if guaranteeing good cooperation – yes, but that is not enough to win elections. Today, we must build relations with those with whom we will cooperate and build joint electoral lists on the basis of parliamentary cooperation, and in the future also extra-parliamentary cooperation. That's what I'm talking about. I understand President Jaśkowiak's idea as the first step, or perhaps the second, because the first is integration within the Platform, the end of discussion, elections for the parliamentary club authorities, moving to the next stage of building a strong opposition grouping that will be ready to win the 2023 elections, both local and parliamentary – stated Grzegorz Schetyna on Radio Zet.
- Rebranding, discussing these changes – I don't rule it out, but I believe it's a summation of the stage of building a new Civic Coalition, a new Platform, new relations with opposition groupings, including those like Szymon Hołownia's, who is outside parliament, or majorities outside parliament. Rebranding, building a new image is the next step. As for the Civic Platform, we have had elections for the party leader, and we are before elections for the club authorities. The point is that the club authorities, elected by MPs, senators, and MEPs of the Civic Coalition, should be a good, subjective representation of all environments, groups, and political ideas – he continued.
