The Sejm is scheduled to address, among other things, a government bill proposing amendments to certain acts regarding protective measures against the spread of the CARS-CoV-2 virus on Wednesday – according to the session schedule seen by 300POLITYKA. The first reading is slated for 12:00 PM, and the second reading at 9:00 PM. The bill is expected to be adopted the following day, during a voting block between 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM.
Also on the agenda is a government report on measures being taken to enable Poles residing in border areas, both within the Republic of Poland and abroad, to work in Poland and neighboring countries. Additionally, the first reading of a government bill on granting public aid to save or restructure entrepreneurs is scheduled.
Following this, a recess will be declared on Thursday until May 5th, when the first reading of another government bill will take place – concerning subsidies for bank loan interest rates provided to ensure financial liquidity for entrepreneurs affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The second reading is planned for May 6th, during which the Sejm will also vote on amendments/a motion to reject the mail-in voting bill within a voting block between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM.
It's worth noting that the Sejm session has been divided into two parts – two days this week (Wednesday and Thursday, April 29-30) and two days next week (Tuesday and Wednesday, May 5-6). This allows PiS to potentially block any potential vote for the dismissal of the Marshal of the Sejm, at least temporarily. The regulations state that consideration of a motion and its submission to a vote occurs at the first Sejm session following the expiry of 7 days from its submission, but no later than 45 days from the date of submission. This means a vote (should such a motion be filed) would only happen at the next session, and a recess could be declared for subsequent days.
UPDATE: In the current version of the schedule, the point concerning the mail-in voting is still planned for May 6th, but a voting block may also take place on May 7th if the Senate sends over a resolution at the last minute.
