Emilewicz:
Every nation that has locked down its economy is preparing exit strategies; epidemic conditions will dictate the timing.
- Today, every country is preparing, a country that has locked down, frozen its economy, is already preparing for exit scenarios. The epidemic conditions will decide when this will happen, and these conditions are referenced and further tightenings or relaxations are reported and proposed by the Minister of Health, Łukasz Szumowski. And it is under his direction that we are preparing our actions. The Ministry of Development has already taken steps today for scenarios of exiting and thawing the economy. We are not talking about any specific date, of course. We are talking about variants of the order in which they should occur. For this purpose, we are using best practices, already from the experiences of countries where the epidemic began 2-3 months earlier, i.e., from Asian solutions. We are also looking at documents that Germany and Austria are already preparing. Austria announced yesterday, May 1st, as the day when it will begin to bring the economy back to life. The Czech Republic and Slovakia are also preparing for a thaw. We know that a return to normality will not happen overnight. It's not like we will return to all our habits from before the pandemic in one day. Perhaps some of them will remain with us forever. We know that exiting requires the adoption of special safety protocols in workplaces, in production facilities, in schools, in all places where we spend time collectively. We are therefore preparing such scenarios. The Council of Ministers will decide when this will happen, based on the recommendations of the Minister of Health – stated Jadwiga Emilewicz at a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.
