May 10th Elections Cannot Take Place. A Safe Term is Postponing Presidential Elections by Two Years. Such a Change is Possible Through Amending the Constitution, and Today We Present Such a Bill

- The May 10th elections cannot take place; this is obvious from the perspective of medical data. At the same time, we have these constitutional realities. A change in the election date can only occur in accordance with the constitution. There is a question about a possible date. There is no certainty whether the elections could take place in the summer due to epidemiological reasons, or if they could take place in the autumn. However, all scientific data indicates that a safe term is to postpone the presidential elections by two years. Such a change is possible through amending the constitution, and today, we, the MPs of Porozumienie, are presenting such a bill - said Jarosław Gowin in the Sejm.

- This is a bill providing for a systemic change, involving the introduction of a single, seven-year presidential term in Poland, with a simultaneous special resolution extending President Andrzej Duda's term by two years, assuming that the current President will not run again in two years - Gowin added.
