Morawiecki:
We Must Fight for Our Economy, Our Businesses, Our Jobs. The Anti-Crisis Shield Will Evolve. We Will Continuously Develop and Adapt It to the Current Situation
- The coronavirus pandemic threatens not only our health and lives. It poses a serious danger to our economy as well, which we have painstakingly built over the years. Many companies and sectors have frozen their operations. Global supply chains are being disrupted. Leaders of major countries and experts worldwide are sounding the alarm: the consequences of the economic crisis will be very serious. It is precisely in such conditions that Poland faces an economic test. Perhaps the most serious one we have faced in decades. We will not be able to completely avoid this storm. The government has prepared an anti-crisis shield. The shield was created to protect. But to protect during a battle, because a fight awaits us. We must fight for our economy, for our businesses, for our jobs. The anti-crisis shield will change. We will continuously develop and adapt it to the current situation. The state stands with employees and employers. In this extraordinary time, we must all be united and responsible. Play as one team – stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in a recording published on social media.
- The total value of the shield will amount to at least 10% of Poland's entire GDP. This is the largest Polish support package in history. The Polish state will help employees and employers in this difficult situation. It will cover 40% of employee salaries. It will provide support for self-employed individuals and those on civil law contracts. It will expand guarantees for small and medium-sized enterprises. It will launch credit facilities to maintain liquidity. It will alleviate the burden of paying contributions. Entrepreneurs can count on a support package and financial leverage. Tools developed through many meetings and consultations will also help us in this fight. I thank everyone for these discussions, including trade unions, businesses, and entrepreneurs. We will do everything to stop the pandemic, and at the same time, we will fight to protect the Polish economy, Polish companies, and workers. A very difficult time awaits us, but we must be united and care even more for our loved ones – continued PMM.
