Szczerski:
US negatively received Jerusalem conference organizers' decision to silence President Duda; they understand his withdrawal
- We discussed the upcoming commemorations of the liberation of the German concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau. I can state very clearly that the American side negatively received the decision of the Jerusalem conference organizers to deny President Duda a voice. They fully understand President Duda's decision not to participate in those ceremonies. They believe it was a wrong decision by the organizers not to have that Polish voice there and will very clearly express their dissatisfaction with this turn of events and the shape of the Holocaust anniversary commemorations in Jerusalem - stated Krzysztof Szczerski during a conversation with journalists in Washington.
- However, there will also be a high-ranking American delegation at Auschwitz on January 27th. It will be led by the Secretary of the Treasury, which is a significant signal that the American side also attaches great importance to these commemorations that will take place at Auschwitz. I think we can also expect a good speech from Vice President Pence in Jerusalem during the ceremonies organized there - added the presidential minister.
- Indeed, here we have clear support for President Duda's decision regarding his absence from Jerusalem. Very clear dissatisfaction, or even outrage, at the fact that the Polish president was not given a voice there, and great attention is being paid to the main ceremonies of the liberation of the German Auschwitz camp, which will take place in Poland on January 27th - Szczerski continued.
