Grodzki After Meeting with Jourová: We Exchanged Views with Experts from Both Sides on Whether the Judicial Act is Suitable for Amendment or Rejection

Regarding the details of the so-called judicial acts, we exchanged views with experts from both sides on whether this act is suitable for amendment, or perhaps for rejection and return to the Sejm. However, Commissioner Jourová welcomed the fact that the Venice Commission, which is a body with an advisory, not binding, role, will also issue opinions on this matter. She also appreciated that we are conducting intensive consultations shortly after the holidays to best prepare for the debate on this law, which is very important for judges, but even more important for all of us, for the citizens of Poland who interact with the justice system. Because everyone wants to be judged by a judge who has the proper mandate for their position, is truly independent, and can issue a verdict in accordance with the fundamental principles of democracy” – said the Marshal of the Senate, Tomasz Grodzki, in Brussels.

We were received as good friends in an institution where we stand on equal footing with other members of the European community, with equal rights and obligations” – he added.
