Tusk:
Presidential Election is an Absolutely Strategic Matter. To Stop the PiS Government's Damage, We Need the Power of a Presidential Veto
- Given the current speculation about who will run in the presidential elections and when, this is an absolutely strategic matter. We have 4 years ahead of us where the PiS government will likely be in power. To stop, to prevent the PiS government from causing damage, we need the power of a presidential veto. This is truly the fundamental, strategic question. Will Poland waste these next 4 years, as we've had glimpses of in the last 4 years, or will Poles and political elites, through a wise choice of a presidential candidate, manage to persuade, to compel those in power to at least avoid mistakes, both internationally and, most importantly, domestically. Therefore, for me, the most important thing is, and I think everyone will agree with me on this, to choose a candidate in the presidential elections who will have the greatest chance of winning, not someone who just declares themselves, has a high opinion of themselves, and above all, a candidate who will be able to convince those who currently vote for our opponents, who will be able to convince Poles who, for various reasons, vote for PiS or hesitate between one option and another. This should undoubtedly be a joint effort of all those who in the recent elections voted, among others, in the Senate for today's Senate majority. This is not about choosing a candidate quickly, but wisely. So that they genuinely have maximum chances. This can be consulted by talking with people, experts, between political parties, by conducting research. There are dozens of methods to optimize this choice - stated Donald Tusk in a conversation with journalists in Brussels.
