- I will defend an adequate and strong budget for agriculture, because European agriculture faces truly enormous challenges. They are even increasing, in connection with higher demands regarding the environment and climate, and I will do everything to increase this budget. And I can say today that we are on a very good path for this to happen, that the budgetary proposals that have been presented, by the current, outgoing commission, will be increased. This is a big political challenge. I will be a commissioner who will fight for agriculture to be supported to the greatest possible extent.
