According to information obtained by 300POLITYKA, the new government spokesperson, replacing Joanna Kopcińska, will be Piotr Müller, the current Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education.
In the government, he was responsible for the largest reform of higher education in free Poland. He managed to unite the academic community around the reform – from rectors to students and doctoral candidates. The communication strategy for the so-called Constitution for Science is considered one of the best in recent years – says one of our interlocutors.
A lawyer, a graduate of the University of Warsaw, he was previously a member of the Presidium of the Polish Accreditation Committee, a member of the UW Senate, and the chairman of the Parliament of Students of the Republic of Poland.
In December 2018, Müller obtained the opportunity to assume a parliamentary mandate following the passing of Jolanta Szczypińska and after the resignation submitted by Piotr Karczewski, to which he agreed. He took the parliamentary oath on December 28. In the last European Parliament elections, running in the district covering the Pomeranian Voivodeship, he received 10,573 votes.
His father, Edward Müller, was a political prisoner during the PRL era, the head of the NSZZ "Solidarity" in Central Pomerania, and a member of the national authorities of the trade union. From 1989 to 1993, he served as a Member of Parliament.
