Pudłowski to PiS: It's Time to Act Based on Current Laws, Not Mask Inaction by Throwing Out More Draft Legislation

  • - I have a government draft bill in my hands that toughens penalties for pedophilia. It's a very extensive draft, and we've been given until 3:30 PM, when a debate on the matter will take place. The fight against pedophilia requires us to familiarize ourselves with it thoroughly from a legal perspective, seeking opinions from experts, sexologists, and psychologists - stated Paweł Pudłowski at a briefing in the Sejm.
  • - We received a draft not consulted with any communities; it was created somewhere in a PiS office, written hastily for the needs of political marketing - he continued. - This is merely a cover-up for the fact that over the past 4 years of PiS rule, little has been done on the issue of pedophilia, despite having all legal tools and appropriate services at their disposal - he added.
  • - As the head of the Modern Poland club, I ask why change the law if the current one is not respected. Why toughen it when current regulations allow for the effective prosecution of sexual offenders – it simply needs to be done - emphasized the head of the Modern Poland club.
  • - If a person who printed a few stickers with the Virgin Mary in a rainbow halo can be effectively stopped and brought to the police station, why can't we act just as quickly regarding these terrible crimes and the people responsible for concealing them - he said.
  • - We appeal to PiS – it's time to act based on current legal provisions, not to engage in masking inaction by throwing out more draft legal acts. We expect immediate action from Minister Brudziński - he stated.
