European Coalition Expands to Include New Groups, Including UED, IP, and KOD
- Today is a very important day for all of us, for those who have worked, protested, and fought for democracy and equality in Poland for years. We will win these elections because for the first time in 3.5 years, there is hope that all those who have been humiliated, ridiculed, women who protested and only saw closed doors and contempt, people standing for judicial freedom, individuals with disabilities, fighting for the rule of law, can hope that they will feel good and dignified in Poland. We will win because we believe that Poland needs normality, that we dream of Poland finally being normal, that we want Poland to be a country of equal rights and equal opportunities, for men and women, for people living in cities and villages. For people who fight against various forms of discrimination every day, for believers and non-believers, for the excluded, the poorer, but also for those who are doing well, because we all deserve law and respect, not contempt and injustice - said Barbara Nowacka at a conference with new European Coalition partners.
Inicjatywa Polska, Unia Europejskich Demokratów, Inicjatywa Feministyczna, Komitet Obrony Demokracji, Wolność i Równość, Wolne Sądy, and Socjaldemokracja Polska are joining the KE.
- Today we are here to say that we deeply believe that we will win and we await this day, we will taste hope, when after all these protests we can clearly say: yes, we differ, but we are united by faith in Poland, a Poland in the EU, a strong Poland. Our victory will not be the victory of Grzegorz Schetyna, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, or Katarzyna Lubnauer. It will be the victory of each and every one of us who, for 3.5 years, went to protests, fought, put up umbrellas, and shouted "free courts", "freedom, equality, democracy" - she added.
- The European Coalition is getting stronger, gaining new quality, with representatives of parties, circles, and organizations joining. I believe this is a process, and I am glad that we can share in the joy together, that we are here, that we feel united in diversity and enriched by this diversity. We are optimists - said the leader of Platforma, Grzegorz Schetyna.
- The slogan of the European Union is "United in diversity". The European Coalition is exactly like that - said the leader of Nowoczesna, Katarzyna Lubnauer. - This is a group that has been cooperating for a long time and clearly wants to cooperate now. Let's finish. It will be normal again, it will be joyful again. We will win - she added.
- This is a pleasant and good moment - said the head of SLD, Włodzimierz Czarzasty. - The time has come for all citizens in Poland to know and vote for the KE, because there is no point in wasting a vote. Votes for the KE are votes for democracy. The more there are, the greater the chance of winning against evil - he emphasized.
