European Coalition Leaders Appeal to Government and Kaczyński to End Teachers' Strike and Meet Demands

Michał Olech

Meeting with you today is an attempt on our part to appeal in this difficult situation concerning Polish schools, Polish education, teachers, and students. This is a difficult situation caused by Minister Zalewska's reform, a 3.5-year period of chaos in Polish education. As representatives of the European Coalition, we are here to appeal for an end to this protest, for Jarosław Kaczyński to make a decision, call Prime Minister Morawiecki, and order an end to this conflict. In essence, he should decide on the pay rise that the teaching community expects. It cannot be the case that this strike, this teachers' protest – a just protest – continues through the holidays, through the coming days. That is why we are here to appeal to the government and President Kaczyński to end this [teachers'] protest – stated Grzegorz Schetyna at a conference of European Coalition leaders.
