New VAT Matrix Removed from Sejm Session Agenda. Following Accusations that PiS is Raising Taxes on Juices

The Sejm will not vote today on the draft concerning the new VAT matrix – the vote was on a motion to reject the government's proposal in the first reading. This decision was made following accusations that the Law and Justice (PiS) party is thus increasing VAT on juices made from Polish apples, while simultaneously lowering it on junk food and imported citrus fruits.

Earlier, an adjournment was announced, during which a meeting took place in the plenary hall between Jarosław Kaczyński and, among others, Deputy Minister of Finance Filip Świtała. After the decision to remove the government's draft from the voting agenda was announced, some parliamentarians – primarily from PiS – chanted "Jarosław, Jarosław!".
