Trzaskowski Appeals to Environment Minister for Help Resolving Warsaw's Waste Problem

Michał Olech

- The situation is indeed very difficult. Waste knows no political colors. This is a problem we all want to solve together, but to do that, cooperation is needed between local government, the local government of Warsaw, the metropolis, the regional government, and also the central government. While we started cooperating many months ago, a group was established in the city hall to deal with the waste problem… While we are ready to solve the problem, especially when it comes to waste collection, the latest signals from the government are very concerning for us - stated Rafał Trzaskowski at a briefing. - We have a problem with the adoption of the regional waste management program, and here the Minister of the Environment is blocking us from adopting this program, which results in potential problems with waste disposal, but above all with investments - he continued. - We met here to primarily think together about how to solve the problem. I will discuss this matter, as will my colleagues from the regional authorities. We appeal to the minister to help us solve this problem, because this problem concerns everyone who lives in Warsaw, in the neighboring municipalities, and in the entire region. We would like the waste problem not to become a political weapon in the hands of the PiS government, because in the end, it could affect all residents - he added.
