Wojciechowicz:
A Third Force is Needed in the Warsaw City Council to Shift Local Government Towards Substantive Discussion
Action for residents instead of political wars and concrete solutions for Ursynów – these are the commitments made by the leaders of the Akcja Warszawa, Nasz Ursynów, and Otwarty Ursynów committees.
As reported by Jacek Wojciechowicz, leader of Akcja Warszawa and candidate for President of Warsaw, yesterday during a session of the Warsaw City Council, a group of Akcja Warszawa councilors submitted a draft resolution that was supported by all clubs.
- Akcja Warszawa, despite not being the largest group, was able to unite both PiS and PO - said Wojciechowicz. - This was probably the first vote in the Warsaw City Council this term where PiS and PO joined forces for a just cause – because it concerned salaries in nurseries. This shows that a third force is needed in the council, one that can shift local government towards substantive discussion instead of the political squabble between PO and PiS - he added.
Local government representatives from Akcja Warszawa also supported the idea of Otwarty Ursynów to hold debates for mayoral candidates in that district. - The idea is brilliant - assessed Warsaw councilor Lech Jaworski, running from the first position on the Akcja Warszawa list. - We believe this opens a new path towards transparency of power in the districts and towards decentralization of power in the districts, something the current team has failed to achieve. We support this and call on all districts to hold similar debates.
