Jaki Presents Further Proposals:

The City Hall Can Be Open to Citizens

Michał Olech

"The City Hall Can Be Open to Citizens" - Jaki Presents Further Proposals - I would like to propose a change in the philosophy of how city hall officials and the City Hall itself think about their work. I want to say that I am convinced that the City Hall can operate differently, better than before, facing the citizen, not with its back to them. Therefore, I want to declare very specifically that if I become the President of Warsaw, the city hall will function differently. It will be friendly to citizens. Three specifics: we will introduce home visits for the oldest residents and people with disabilities, visits from city hall officials to their homes. Currently, this operates poorly and only concerns identity cards. We want to expand this program in such a way, it needs to be completely changed, so that all essential matters, e.g., for people who are homebound, can be handled by an official visiting the person at their home. This is precisely because city halls are meant to be a service for people, not the other way around. Second issue - let's remember, Warsaw is a specific city. People here work very long, hard hours to pay off their loans, to improve their quality of life, which is why city halls must adapt to the working patterns of Warsaw residents. In light of the above, I want to declare that city halls will be open longer and will be open to Warsaw residents. Currently, the city hall is open until 6 PM only one day a week; generally, they are open until 4 PM. That's not enough; Warsaw residents don't work like that. The city hall should be for its residents, which is why we propose that two days a week, always on the same days, so that every Warsaw resident knows, city halls will be open until 8 PM, so that everyone can handle their essential matters. Number three - customer assistants in city halls, in the basic citizen service departments. Today, it often happens that a Warsaw resident, when they come to the city hall, doesn't know where to go, doesn't know where they can get their matter handled, or pick up a form. That is why we want to introduce an assistant in every hall whose task will be to approach the capital's resident themselves and say: you can handle this here, that there, this much here, I will help you sort this out here. In this way, we want to show that the city hall can be open to citizens, that it can function differently. We want to change the philosophy in thinking about how city halls function. It should be friendly, serve the citizens. I am convinced that we can change this - Patryk Jaki said at a press conference.
