-- CZARZASTY: WE WILL NOT SUPPORT ANY VARIANT OF "CREDIT 0%" IF THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT SUPPORT THE CONSTRUCTION OF APARTMENTS FOR CHEAP RENT - 300LIVE: https://300polityka.pl/live/2024/05/14/ -- PIS LEADS IN US POLL FOR RMF AND DGP: PiS enjoys the highest support with 32.7% of respondents. Civic Coalition (KO) is in second place with 30.3% of respondents. The Third Way (PSL and Poland 2050) is supported by 12.6% of respondents, and the Left by 9.6%. Confederation would also cross the electoral threshold with around 8.6% support. -- 36% DECIDEDLY DECLARE PARTICIPATION: 36.2% of respondents answered "definitely yes" to the question, and 8.6% answered "rather yes". Therefore, according to these declarations, a total of 44.8% of respondents intend to vote. https://www.rmf24.pl/raporty/raport-eurowybory-2024/news-najnowszy-sondaz-przed-eurowyborami-pis-wyprzedza-ko,nId,7508185 -- BEFORE THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT ELECTIONS IN LOWER SILESIA AND OPOLE, ONLY THE PIS CAMPAIGN IS VISIBLE. IT LOOKS AS IF KO, THE LEFT, AND THE THIRD WAY HAVE CONCEDED DEFEAT ON THE STARTING LINE - MAGDALENA KOZIOŁ IN GW. -- PIS CANDIDATES GIVE THE IMPRESSION THAT THEY ARE EVERYWHERE - KOZIOŁ CONTINUES IN GW: “PiS candidates give the impression that they are everywhere. They don't turn down invitations to debates or media appearances, they promote themselves on banners and billboards in constituency no. 12 in Lower Silesia and Opole. Their people are handing out leaflets in squares and markets. Politicians from Civic Coalition, the Left, and the Third Way seem to have yielded the field to PiS and Confederation, and are only preparing to enter the fray.” https://wroclaw.wyborcza.pl/wroclaw/7,35771,30965207,ko-oddala-juz-pis-kampanie-do-parlamentu-europejskiego-wyborcy.html -- IT IS WORTHWHILE TO ENGAGE IN A "ROTTEN COMPROMISE" REGARDING THE KRS, BUT IT TAKES TWO TO TANGO - DOMINIKA WIELOWIEYSKA IN GW: “As early as 2021, I wrote that a rotten compromise with the president, a compromise that no one would be entirely happy with, is essential. If the democratic opposition could reach an agreement with the PZPR in 1989 to lead Poland from communism to democracy, why couldn't the October 15th Coalition at least reach an agreement with a part of the PiS camp to improve the rule of law in Poland? The appointment of neo-judges raises doubts, but one must also acknowledge that, according to the competencies of the head of state, it has been confirmed by the president elected in democratic elections. Furthermore, excluding all neo-judges from the possibility of running for the KRS can also be considered applying collective responsibility.” -- DUDY'S DECISION ON THE KRS LAW WILL BE A SIGNIFICANT TEST OF HIS INTENTIONS - WIELOWIEYSKA CONTINUES: “Senate amendments are now to be voted on by the Sejm. Then the law will be sent to the Presidential Palace. If the president vetoes the law with Bodnar's compromise amendments, he will then take full responsibility for the chaos prevailing in the judiciary. Andrzej Duda publicly declares that he is not interested in party games, that he does not intend to make life difficult for the government in every matter, and that he is guided by substantive premises. His decision regarding the KRS law will be a significant test of his intentions.” https://wyborcza.pl/7,75968,30967139,zgnily-kompromis-w-sprawie-krs-do-tanga-trzeba-dwojga.html -- INVESTIGATIVE COMMITTEES ARE ALREADY PACKING UP. NERVES EVEN IN TUSK'S PARTY - MONIKA WALUŚ IN ONE: “Two investigative committees – the visa scandal and the envelope scandal – will conclude their work at the beginning of June. Their chairpersons assure that the findings so far allow for the formulation of reports and the filing of notifications with the prosecutor's office. Political opponents are thundering that MPs Joński and Szczerba are in a hurry to end the investigations because both are heading to Brussels. – This is a curiosity, this is a circus – comments PiS MP Michał Wójcik, who is also running for the European Parliament. Murmurs of discontent can be heard even among some MPs of the ruling coalition. The situation is more complicated in the case of the Pegasus committee's work. The Constitutional Tribunal wants to apply the brakes to resolving this affair.” https://www.onet.pl/informacje/onetwiadomosci/komisje-sledcze-juz-zwijaja-manatki-zlosc-slychac-nawet-w-partii-donalda-tuska-cyrk/cs6mt03,79cfc278 -- BRONISŁAW KOMOROWSKI WOULD NOT SIGN THE SILESIAN LANGUAGE ACT: https://www.onet.pl/informacje/onetslask/byly-prezydent-doradza-andrzejowi-dudzie-nie-podpisalbym-tej-ustawy/cemge7s,79cfc278 -- WE FACE A PERIOD OF TOTAL COHABITATION. AND DURING THE EU PRESIDENCY, INSTEAD OF THE SUMMITS PLANNED BY THE PRESIDENT, WE WILL WITNESS A SUMMIT OF WAR AT THE TOP - MICHAŁ SZUŁDRZYŃSKI IN RZ: “The president and the prime minister don't have to like each other. As long as both sides respect the constitution and the state functions, such emotions are of little importance. But these mutual barbs between the president and the prime minister are a harbinger of what awaits us in the coming months, when the turning points will be the European elections, and then the presidential elections, which will be a clash between two camps: the one led by Tusk, and the one whose highest-placed representative is President Andrzej Duda. Therefore, we face a period of total cohabitation. And during the EU presidency, instead of the summits planned by the president, we will witness a summit of war at the top.” https://www.rp.pl/komentarze/art40342131-michal-szuldrzynski-czas-totalnej-kohabitacji-czyli-dlaczego-nie-ma-chemii-miedzy-tuskiem-a-duda -- IF THE THREAT IS VERY REAL, AND YET PARTY LEADERS CHOOSE TO IGNITE A POLISH-POLISH WAR, WHAT DOES THAT SAY ABOUT OUR POLITICAL CLASS? - MICHAŁ PŁOCIŃSKI IN RZ: “We have to decide on something: either we are in a pre-war era with a serious threat from the East, or we are conducting an election campaign as if nothing were wrong and setting hot-headed hardline electorates against each other. Because if the threat is very real, and yet party leaders choose to ignite a Polish-Polish war, what does that say about our political class?” https://www.rp.pl/komentarze/art40343071-michal-plocinski-zaraz-sie-okaze-ze-ruscy-agenci-ktorzy-podpalili-marywilska-to-politycy-pis -- MINISTER LIKE A HOBBO WITH A CIGARETTE, RESTING AFTER DIRTY WORK - MICHAŁ KARNOWSKI: “A minister like a hobbo with a cigarette, resting after dirty work, pleased with the break-in and the loot – yes, that is the true face of this regime. It resembles a Soviet brute proud of himself, pleased that there is no longer a "gentry Poland" with its ridiculous laws, that Comrade Mauser is now in charge. It is the minister with the cigarette who has done this to Poland, he introduced this method into Polish politics, and in this way covered himself in shame. After the events caused by two departing ministers, Poland will never be the same again. Every authority will be able to do the same, everyone will take everything. The constitution is dead. If the Sejm can pass a resolution to attack the Constitutional Tribunal, then anything is permissible.” https://wpolityce.pl/polityka/691677-minister-jak-zulik-z-petem-odpoczywajacy-po-brudnej-robocie -- BIRTHDAYS: Piotr Ikonowicz, Krzysztof Kwiatkowski, Kamil Zaradkiewicz, Andrzej Person, Jarosław Pietras, Barbara Włodarczyk.
