Żurek:
I've instructed the prosecution to initiate proceedings against those who advised the President not to swear in Constitutional Tribunal judges
- Today I made a decision, I have instructed the prosecution to initiate proceedings against individuals who have made themselves public, I mean representatives of the Presidential Chancellery, but perhaps also other individuals who advised the President not to accept the oath - said Waldemar Żurek at a press conference.
- We saw a 'chocholi taniec' (a Polish idiom for a futile or pointless dance). First, there was the questioning of six correctly elected judges. When that failed, because Marshal Czarzasty and all of Poland saw that the procedure was fully observed, it turned out that the President suddenly started choosing from those six, outside the law, in violation of the constitution - he stated.
- We saw the head of the Chancellery publicly say: 'biographies were being examined'. So we ask this question: on what legal basis? It could be a failure to fulfill duties not only by the President, who is accountable to the State Tribunal, but mainly by his officials in the Chancellery, civil servants, advisors, who led to the situation we all witnessed - that these judges had to use a different oath formula before the President - he continued.
“The fact that the President was picking and choosing is a violation of the matter. But someone advised him.”
- The fact that the President was picking and choosing with his finger, who he liked more or who appealed to him more from that group of six, is a violation of the matter. But someone advised him. […] I am initiating criminal proceedings and prosecutors will investigate this situation, and I hope we will learn the identities of those who helped the President in such behavior - he pointed out.
