Bogucki Warns Żurek:
Any Attempt Will Be a Crime.
- Information is reaching us that an attempt is being prepared, through resolutions, various opinions, or again a regulation, which cannot change the law, to dismiss prosecutors, deputy prosecutors general, or rather, to unlawfully remove them from office - said Zbigniew Bogucki at a press conference.
- For over two years, not even Prosecutor General Bodnar was able or dared to lay a hand on the deputy prosecutors general, or rather, to lay a hand on the statutory, exclusive prerogative of the President of the Republic [...] it is the President of the Republic who consents to dismissal. Any other attempt to deprive any of the deputy prosecutors general of their office will be blatant unlawfulness, it will be a crime, and this message I am directing primarily to Mr. Minister Żurek - he continued.
- Perhaps in this gesture of despair, he will still try to demonstrate such an act of unlawfulness, but we warn, Mr. Minister, that this is an absolutely unlawful action, both in the constitutional and criminal-legal context - he went on to say.
- I think that if such an action is planned anywhere at all, I propose that the Minister of Justice does not undertake such unlawful actions, because sooner or later it will be associated with appropriate proceedings and responsibility when the prosecution and the state function properly - he added.
