Trzaskowski's Different Stance on the Independence March Than During the Campaign:
A Firm Declaration Never Came.
"Will Trzaskowski participate in the Independence March? It seems to be a serious question today that occupies the attention of many people online," said Rafał Trzaskowski in a recording published on social media.
"Those asking this question very often refer to my conversation with Sławomir Mentzen. Let's listen to what I said then," he added.
Subsequently, a fragment of the conversation that the then presidential candidate had with the leader of Konfederacja was played. Trzaskowski said at the time:
"And will you join me [in the Independence March]? Will we all go? I hope there will be an opportunity for all of us to march together, yes."
"As you can see, a firm declaration never came. I spoke about certain circumstances possibly being met one day when we could all march together in the Independence March. I don't think those circumstances have been met," commented the Mayor of Warsaw.
"Unfortunately, the Independence March itself remains an event for only one group, and I would like us to celebrate our national holiday together," he continued, inviting people to the "Wspólna Niepodległa" (United Independence) concert, organized on the grounds of the Warsaw Citadel.
"And let everyone celebrate our national holiday as they see fit. Safely, with dignity, and preferably without causing damage to the city," Trzaskowski concluded.
