Nowacka on Reading List Reform: 'It's Truly Not the Minister Who Should Choose the Books'

For this year, absolutely nothing has changed; it's exactly the same reading list, plus what we've already introduced: the possibility for students and teachers to choose an additional book – stated Barbara Nowacka during 'Poranna rozmowa w RMF' (Morning Talk on RMF), when asked about reforms to the reading list curriculum.

And next year, the reform will be launched, and the team working on the core curriculum has proposals on how to encourage young people to read. This doesn't mean there will be less. It means it will be more interesting – she continued.

When teachers see that young people are absorbing [the material], they provide additional, supplementary readings, and I would like one thing to be clear: it's truly not the minister who should choose the books; rather, let those who simply know about it handle it – that is, teachers, practitioners – Nowacka concluded.
