Komorowski:

Too Many Vetoes Could Seriously Harm Nawrocki

Michał Olech

Vetoes, you know, well, vetoes, I see that the president wants to create the impression that he is very tough, decisive, and will be vetoing. He seems to be vetoing a bit blindly, it strikes me. Somewhat on intuition, probably without a deeper examination of these bills. But at the same time, the chancellery emphasizes that he signs far more bills. This means he is aware that an excessive, shall we say, number of vetoes could, in the end, on balance, seriously harm him – stated Bronisław Komorowski in 'Poranna rozmowa w RMF FM'.

It seems that although President Nawrocki won the election, the next parliamentary elections are approaching. He himself will not be a candidate in them, but he will try, at least so it seems to me, to help, not harm, Law and Justice. And therefore, his excessive vetoes and the construction of his own presidential image as a radical – one who, at the expense of the state's interest (meaning vetoing indiscriminately), pursues certain party goals – will be detrimental, especially among moderately right-wing voters – he continued.
