– I did not sign the bill on assistance for citizens of Ukraine, while simultaneously proposing my own draft law and today encouraging the government and all political circles in the Polish parliament to work hard over the next 2 weeks on a new form of this legislation, – President Karol Nawrocki said during a statement to the media.

‘Citizenship Granting Process Should Be Extended, Penalties for Illegal Border Crossing Increased’
– In this draft law, I also propose new solutions regarding the granting of citizenship not only to guests from Ukraine, but also to guests from other regions of the world who come to Poland. [...] I believe that the process of granting citizenship – which is a presidential prerogative – should be extended from 3 to 10 years. And such a proposal will be included in this draft law, – he stated.

– There will also be a proposal to increase the penalty for illegal crossing of the Polish border – this should be 5 years, – he pointed out.

‘Stop Banderism’
– There is also a certain component in this draft law, which is fundamental for Poles and very important – to eliminate Russian propaganda and set Polish-Ukrainian relations on genuine partnership and mutual respect, mutual sensitivity, I believe that we should include an unambiguous slogan 'stop Banderism' in this draft law and in the penal code equate the Bandera symbol with symbols corresponding to German National Socialism [...], Soviet communism, and also make corrections to the IPN Act regarding the crimes of OUN-UPA, – the president emphasized.
