Government Adopts Resolution on Illegal Immigration. Kaczyński: To Will Be Presented to the European Commission as Our Stance

Michał Olech

The Council of Ministers has adopted a resolution that addresses everything connected with the current situation in Lampedusa, but this Lampedusa is merely a symbol of a situation that threatens the whole of Europe, including Poland. The resolution states that in the document to be sent to the EU, we should present the matter as follows - stated Jarosław Kaczyński during a press conference. - Firstly, to reject the abandonment of the compromise reached in 2018, which stipulated that the issue of relocation is already a settled matter. Because, please remember, we are currently returning to something that has already been definitively decided, and that the only method of realistically fighting this - and it must be termed as such - a kind of invasion, is the actual, real sealing of borders and making decisions regarding the return of those who have crossed the border to their home countries, or possibly some other solution, but always connected with removing them from one's own territory, in this case, the EU - he continued. - The Council of Ministers also points out that all kinds of announcements of relocation decisions, or these 10 points that Ms. von der Leyen has currently announced, which also contain such an announcement, are in fact an encouragement for the human trafficking industry, because that's how it must be described, for those who want to take advantage of the opportunity to illegally enter Europe. These decisions are counterproductive from the perspective of the declared goal, this must be clearly stated, and hence, and this is my comment beyond the resolution, our astonishment that they are being made - he further stated. - All of this is to be unequivocally presented to the European Commission as our position. Poland shows that it is possible to fight illegal emigration, but one must simply guard our borders. If these borders are not guarded, whether they are sea or land borders, then we are dealing with the situation that is currently happening in Lampedusa, but in time, and not a long time at that, it may turn out to be something that will occur on a far greater scale throughout Europe - PJK concluded.
