Szczerski Questions Political Metamorphosis and Defense of Controversial Figure
- I am not a lawyer, so I will not comment on procedural matters. We need to discuss several political aspects of this situation: firstly, we are all interested in what mechanism led to the situation where the leader of the only anti-European party in Poland, a man who called for a vote against Poland joining the EU, the head of an association described by mainstream media as fascist, after a few years becomes the main defender of the President of the European Council, his son, businessmen, and is at the center of the so-called Warsaw social elite. What is this mechanism that causes everyone else with such a past to be labeled fascists by the mainstream? And how does this person, with such a political background, somehow transform into their opposite, and the mainstream media defends him? Secondly, we are dealing with a crime of corruption prosecuted worldwide, and in Poland's case, a mechanism of political defense is activated, and traditional denouncements abroad begin, claiming it is a political process, a witch hunt against a person who is now part of the opposition. This is a path to paralyzing state services, and perhaps that was the intention. And after all, the Central Anticorruption Bureau, alongside the Institute of National Remembrance, are institutions that today's opposition wants to liquidate immediately upon taking power. These are two institutions: the truth about history and the truth about financial misdeeds, which hinder today's opposition. This needs to be proven, courts will operate, but an attempt to provoke an international scandal has already begun. And a third point – the scandalous beating of a journalist. I wouldn't want us to see scenes like Vego live, and here it might be that the son of a prominent person beats a photojournalist and then it turns out he is safe enough for his surroundings to be released from custody - said Krzysztof Szczerski in Woronicza 17.
