Decentralization or even repolonization must occur through market methods. Statutory repolonization would contradict EU law
“We did not discuss repolonization, what Minister Kowalski calls repolonization. If anything, I prefer to talk about decentralization, but this decentralization, or even repolonization, must occur through market methods,” stated Jarosław Gowin in “Rozmowa Piaseckiego” on TVN24.
“This [statutory repolonization of media] would be completely contrary to EU law, whereas there are mechanisms that are successfully used in countries which, for both the editor and myself, and probably for the majority of viewers, are a good point of reference when it comes to democratic standards, such as Germany,” he continued.
