"The Marshal of the Sejm merely announces the election date. The decision to postpone elections is not mine. One cannot simply move the election date. Postponement can only occur in states of emergency, which are defined. It is not up to me to declare them. We must secure ourselves for various eventualities, for various situations," said Marshal of the Sejm Elżbieta Witek at a press conference.

"Elections differ from deliberations here [in the Sejm]. Security can be ensured at elections, just as people go to shops or other places today where they must go, entering one by one. People are very disciplined. It takes a moment. However, a Sejm session involves 460 MPs in one place," she added.
