PO Criticizes Spending of the Justice Fund: Budka Says it Focused on Non-Transparent Transfers to Entities Linked to Solidarna Polska Activists Instead of Helping Crime Victims

For several days, the media have been reporting on another devastating NIK (Supreme Audit Office) report, which concerns the unclear, irrational, and non-purposeful spending of nearly 90% of the Justice Fund, managed by Minister Zbigniew Ziobro. We would like to remind everyone that the Justice Fund was established to help victims of crime, those harmed by criminal activity. This fund was meant to provide assistance to those most in need. Instead, Zbigniew Ziobro and his party colleagues from PiS changed the regulations in such a way that the fund has become a transmission belt for transferring financial resources to groups, foundations, and associations linked to Solidarna Polska activists. As NIK indicates, nearly 90% of the funds from this source were spent in an unclear, non-transparent manner, inconsistent with budgetary principles. Instead of helping crime victims, the focus has shifted to how to non-transparently transfer funds to entities associated with Solidarna Polska activists,” said Borys Budka from PO during a press conference in the Sejm.
