Kwaśniewski on Leaders' Absence from Climate Summit: Poland Lacks Politicians Who Can Pick Up the Phone and Persuade Merkel or Macron to Attend, That's How It's Done

It would certainly have been better, more spectacular, if the most important figures had come [to the climate summit], so treating their absence or non-attendance as good news is a mistake. The summit has many facets, so the presence of leaders is one, a very important part, but only one of many. I hope the discussions that have been prepared will yield some results and that this summit will be a success” - said former President Aleksander Kwaśniewski in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.  „Poland - due to its policies - has become a less friendly place. The signal is that we had no guests on November 11th, that we are not invited to important discussions concerning regions like Ukraine, and another signal is that we lack attractive power. Poland does not have politicians who can pick up the phone and persuade Angela Merkel or Emmanuel Macron to come, because that's how it's done” - he added.
