Morawiecki:

We Are Not Beggars in Europe

Morawiecki: We Are Not Beggars in Europe - We all knew that the EC intended to trigger this article because the Commission had said so. I was fully aware of this because the EC made no secret of it. I did not ask anyone not to trigger Article 7, because we are not beggars in Europe and we do not ask anyone to agree to our judicial reforms - stated Mateusz Morawiecki on Radio Szczecin. He added:
"I pointed out to our partners in France, to President Emmanuel Macron, that 15 years after World War II, the French were emerging from a very similar, totalitarian-collaborationist system, such as the Vichy regime. Prime Minister Michel Debré, during the presidency of Charles de Gaulle, when he returned to power in 1958, carried out a very similar reform, deeply changing the structure of their National Council of the Judiciary in such a way that judges did not constitute the majority in that council. And attention: also establishing a disciplinary chamber. One could say that we are drawing inspiration from good French examples."
