Sikorski:

If Ukraine were to tolerate corruption, it would not join the EU

- Today, I hosted the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine [Taras] Kaczka, and he heard this message directly from me, once again, that the easiest way to lose Western support is to tolerate corruption in Ukraine - said Radosław Sikorski in "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

- As I understand it, arrests have been made here [regarding Energoatom], so this is probably rather an example of the correct reaction of state bodies. Although we know there were attempts to strip the anti-corruption service of its effectiveness - he noted.

- How the Ukrainian authorities react to this will be crucial. Because corruption happens everywhere. But as I understand it, the suspects have already been dismissed, and the anti-corruption services have been allowed to operate. That is good - he assessed.

- Since there are arrests, it means that Ukraine wants to be a European state. If it were to tolerate corruption, it would not join the European Union. The EU requires honesty, it requires adherence to procedures - emphasized the head of Polish diplomacy.
